Ambient Soundbath-ish on Spotify
I apologize for the delay in not having posted a new Soundbath in a while.
In the meantime… I’ve been curating a playlist of Ambient Soundbath-like tracks, and some actual Soundbath tracks, on Spotify, in a playlist, I’ve been calling Restful Drones. Really it’s just been for me to have a go-to source for long-form, drone and ambient tracks for meditation and sleep in a format native to mobile devices, but I thought Soundbath listeners might enjoy it, too.
Here’s a direct link, but also, I’ve embedded the playlist, too.

The Therapeutic Benefits of Ambient Music
“Physiological responses from person to person will vary, as will their tastes… But for a significant number of people suffering severe anxiety and trauma, the droning, minimal, wordless soundscapes of ambient are more effective than any medication.”
I’m sure that many of us know about or have experienced the health and well-being benefits of listening to music; that was the #1 reason I created the Ambient Soundbath, but this article – The Therapeutic Benefits of Ambient Music: Science Shows How It Eases Chronic Anxiety, Physical Pain, and ICU-Related Trauma gets into the science and experience, a bit and I thought that it might be of interest to Ambient Soundbath listeners.

Recently, I found myself listening to two long-form Harold Budd tracks in succession, on repeat, over and over for several weeks. Those tracks included Dark Star and Abandoned Cities, two sides of the same 1984 recording called, Abandoned Cities. These tracks have been part of a larger 200+ track Harold Budd playlist that I’ve listened to in ‘shuffle’ mode for the better part of a decade; I had never listened to these tracks in succession, as they were meant to be heard.
After repeated listens, I decided that their distinctly transfixing and meditational qualities, mixed with the organ drone of Coeur D’Orr from 1970‘s The Oak of Golden Dreams were perfect for an Ambient Soundbath. Frankly, I could do a deep listening podcast on Harold Budd’s work alone, but I thought that these tracks made for an excellently relaxing Soundbath.
00:00 – 19:00 – Harold Budd – Dark Star
19:00 – 22:30 – Harold Budd – Coeur D’orr
22:30 – 45:00 – Harold Budd – Abandoned Cities
Enjoy.

I don’t normally change up the versions of the podcast, unless there’s a glitch, but with this one, I wanted to try a straight low-end drone, but also keep the binaural beat version, which is ASB #81 – Beta Fold Binaural
